I know the feeling.
Things get hard and thoughts like,
“I don’t have the energy” or “I just can’t” pop up.
Here are 8 things to try when you feel like giving up:
1. What is happening for you? What are you feeling? Time to give this overwhelming feeling of wanting to quit a NAME. This feeling doesn’t usually have a clear reason, right? This is why it is important to name it. Are you physically tired? Are you feeling unsupported lately? Do you lack the ability to do the thing? What’s up? 2. Why were you doing this to begin with? It’s important for us to understand what was so exciting about this to begin with and to not make decisions based on what is going on in #1. 3. Ask yourself, “How will I feel and think about myself if I get to the finish line of this?" This is shifting your mind out of the short-term thinking to the long-term goal. 4. Go back to your plan. You have one, right? If you don’t, that’s okay. Time to create one! And you might consider recruiting someone you trust to create it with you, which brings me to #5. 5. Call/text/email/communicate with your peeps! I cannot say this one enough! ASK FOR HELP! You were not born on an island by yourself, so stop acting like it. Your people are your people and would love to help you out. 6. Show some love. Now, this one is going to sound counter-intuitive, but hear me out. You feel like giving up, you are struggling and you are probably overwhelmed. This is the time to think about what you are grateful for because it builds up resiliency and it brings in a more positive mindset when you are feeling pretty negative. 7. CELEBRATE! Have you been celebrating the small victories lately? If not, this might be why you feel like throwing in the towel. Celebrating will renew you to keep it going. 8. Post motivational quotes, pics, and whatever around for you to see each day. Every expert was once a beginner.
I can’t wait to hear how it goes!
